Letter from the Editors

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the 2024 summer issue of RehabINK! We are thrilled to present two novel publications that exemplify our mission: To inspire the rehabilitation science community through student-led, research-driven perspectives. Globally, rehabilitation science makes remarkable contributions to research, clinical practice and the everyday lives of individuals.

As co-editors in chief, we have the privilege of using this digital platform to encourage students to showcase their scholarly work, exchange ideas, and inspire one another. We recognize that June is a month marked by various celebrations including pride, graduation, and often summer holidays. Along with these celebrations, please take a moment to appreciate this year’s accomplishments. This past year at RehabINK we grew our editorial team, engaged new illustrators and increased our social media presence.

This journal would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our editorial team, illustrators, and authors. We extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for your commitment to excellence and your belief in the value of student-led scholarship.

As you read through this issue, we encourage you to engage with the content, reflect on the insights presented, and consider how you can contribute to the ongoing conversation in rehabilitation.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. Together, we can push the boundaries of what is possible in rehabilitation and make a lasting impact.

Warm regards,

Madalena Liougas and Meera Premnazeer

Co-Editors-in-Chief

Dear Readers,

We are thrilled to bring to you issue 17 of rehabINK. In this issue, readers will have access to fantastic articles that offer thought-provoking and important rehabilitation stories and research.

In this issue, some highlights include:

Article #1: “Exploring Community Knowledge of Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI)”– In this article, Gabrielle Crichlow explores the existing levels of knowledge about NSSI in the general population and assesses awareness of mental health resources through the development of a concept map. She presents results from responses to qualitative questions from the Self-Appreciation Project.

Article #2: “How COVID-19 impacted single mothers?” – Lisbeth Pino explores the unique challenges single mothers had encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how this impacted their families. Does policy have a role in shaping their future?

We thank the authors for their submissions, as well as the editors for their constructive feedback and comments for each of the articles. We would also like to acknowledge the illustrators in this issue, which added substantially to the published work.

Yours Truly,

Julia Dahlby and Rochelle Furtado, rehabINK Issue 17 Co-Managing Editors
